Tokyo 3 Day Itinerary
A practical first-time Tokyo 3 day itinerary with neighborhood grouping and booking checks.
This sample 3 day Tokyo itinerary groups each day by area so the trip does not become a train-map puzzle.
Treat this as 2 nights and 3 calendar days, including arrival and departure. With a late arrival or early return flight, keep just one full sightseeing day. For an extra day, see the Seoul to Tokyo 4 day plan.
Day 1: Arrival, Shibuya, and Harajuku
- Arrive, check transit cards or mobile payment setup, and drop bags.
- If your arrival time and hotel location allow, choose a short walk around Shibuya rather than making every stop mandatory.
- Add Harajuku or Omotesando if energy is high.
- Keep dinner near the hotel or the final neighborhood.
Day 2: Asakusa, Ueno, and Akihabara
- Start early in Asakusa.
- Choose Ueno for museums or parks, or Akihabara if electronics, games, or anime shops are a priority.
- Keep the other area optional and leave time for meals, transfers, and a weather backup.
Day 3: Ginza, Tokyo Station, or a Flexible Favorite
- This is departure day, not another full sightseeing day. Choose at most one area near your hotel or onward route if your flight timing allows.
- Keep one open block for shopping, cafes, or a weather backup.
- Confirm airport timing before adding late activities.
